012 - Dublin Quay’s Herons
It used to be believed that where the Heron flew, the weather followed.
Saoirse and I went walking down the quay to see if we could spot any heron. There’s a lady who comes out each day to feed them, and we arrived just in time for feeding time. We also arrived just in time for the sun to pull an Irish goodbye. Instead of practicing grading this very much became practicing footage recovery. I had to push my ISO past 8000 which just became an absolute mess of noise and if you look closely at the third shot you can see my sensor going absulte ham between red, green, and blue. After a metric ton of noise reduction, it became somewhat usable footage, which I’m glad for as t’was a joy seeing these herons flapping about.

Track: out of the picture, Pt. 1
When you write something as heartbreaking as “If hearing you hurts me, I still hear your echo” it's bound to pop up on the Delaney radar. I’m always weary of using trending songs as I’m much happier using music that has already firmly rooted itself in my heart, but while in my childhood bedroom, this struck a nostalgic melancholy that hit just close enough to home. ‘out of the picture Pt. 1’ might have popped off, but ‘out of the picture Pt. 2’ is also very deserving of a listen. Thank you for the music.
