001 - Frank, not Dave

The Black-capped Chickadee hides seeds and other food items to eat later.

This guy is Frank. Saoirse and I call every Chickadee we see Frank, and if there’s more than one, it’s ‘a load of Franks’. The birds that are a bit bigger and brown are called Dave, but this guy is Frank. We have a bell feeder and flat feeder, and usually, when we are feeling a bit under the weather, the Franks arrive to cheer us up. Here’s a few of them I caught on a summer’s eve. I like Frank, he chirp small.

I used this song as inspiration in research journals while in college. I have listened to this song countless times, breaking down the lyrics and themes. The ambiguity of something that might be over soon has always interested me.
